Getting the best broadband deal depends on various factors. Here are some things you might want to consider and check before you sign up, or switch to a new broadband deal:
- Do the speeds offered meet your household needs?
- Are you happy with the providers customer reviews and feedback.?
- Can you bundle broadband with other services like home phone and TV in a money saving deal?
- Are there additional connection fee's or set up fee's?
- What is the duration of the contract - 12, 18, 24 months or longer?
- Does the deal have 'no in-contract' price increases - is the monthly cost fixed for the term? i.e. There are NO or annual price rises.
What happens when you switch broadband provider?
Switching broadband providers is simple and many broadband providers now offer a ‘One Touch Switch’ service, designed to make switching fast and hasstle free:
- If you find a broadband deal you would like to sign up to, click on 'view deal' to visit the providers site and start your order.
- Once you've signed up, the new provider will start your switch (they will notify your old provider you are leaving, cancelling your old service).
- Providing you are out of contract with your old supplier, you should not be charged anymore after your final bill.
- You will be notified of your switch over day and this will be the day your old services terminates and the new provider takes over.
- You have a 14 day cooling off period once your new broadband service is activated, this will provide some time to make sure you are happy with the new service.
Which is the cheapest broadband service in the UK?
Looking specifically at low cost – The cheapest nationwide broadband deals we’ve found come in around £25 per month. Now, Plusnet, SKY & Vodafone, can provide fibre and fast broadband to around 99% of UK homes via the Openreach network, all have deals starting under £25 per month.
If you live in a large town or city and can get fibre to the premises (FTTP), the best full fibre deals we’ve found are with Community Fibre & Toob, both starting at just £16.00 per month, closely followed by deals from 4thUtility & Onestream starting from £18.50 per month.
Cheapest and fastest don’t necessarily equal the best. In the most recent Ofcom customer satisfaction report (2025), Plusnet came top with the highest customer satisfaction for overall service at 91%. Plusnet was also highly rated with lowest percentage of customer complaints.
‘Which’ broadband customer satisfaction survey (January 2026) put smaller provider Zen at the top of their results based on overall customer satisfaction scores. Plusnet & Utility Warehouse followed closely in second and third place, all 3 services are ‘Which’ recommended providers.
