Compare energy, broadband, mobiles and more for money saving deals, say NO to April’s price increases. If you notice your bills rise each April, you are not alone, April is the month that utility companies and other service providers introduce price increases for energy, broadband and mobile phones.
This April broadband and mobile phone services applying ‘mid-contract price rises’ include BT, EE, O2, Sky, Three, Virgin Media and Vodafone. Some companies have confirmed price increases of over 6%, adding £2 to £3 on the average monthly bill.
Historic increases were based on retail price index (RPI) or consumer price index (CPI), around 3.9%, plus up to 3% to account for inflation and increased business costs. Ofcom banned percentage increases, so broadband & mobile service providers must now notify customers of increases as an amount in pounds, not as a percentage.
Customers often don’t notice increases until bills arrive towards the end of April or beginning of May. But if you’re out of contract for any services it’s perfect time to shop around to see if you can get a better deal and beat the price increases.
